Week in the Keys

We got back from the Keys on Wednesday.  We had a really nice time.  We began the trip with dinner at No Name Key Pub.  They said they are in the Guinness Book of World Records and hold the record for the most dollar bills stapled to the walls.

The winds were 15-20 kts and kept up from doing any offshore fishing.  It also made it hard to sight fish on the flats, however, we still were able to wet a line and bend the rods.  I was very excited to have Uncle Roy's G3 to explore new water that I have never had the opportunity to fish before.  I fell in love with his boat, most especially the jack plate which allowed us to cross the skinny water.  I also loved the poling platform and looking across the flats from on high.  We caught probably close to 300+ fish.  No kidding, but the majority were just shy of keepers.  We managed to catch about 20 keepers which we devoured for supper one night.

Mom and Aunt Kay had a ball redecorating the house.  They did a really nice job on the curtians on the closets and made the place just shine.  On the last night, we went to Key West and had dinner at the Conch Republic resturant on the docks.  The food was outstanding, not to mention the Blue Moon on draft at happy hour.  I had raw oysters, Roy had blackened grouper, Mom and Kay had steaks.  We all really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
We have a few things we'd look forward to going back and doing.  Mom and Kay look forward to the flea market opening back up this winter and Roy and I look forward to getting Eddie and the Grady White down there and hitting the reef at night and trying out the LEDs we got him last Christmas.

Tomorrow I head to Tennessee to see my dad and help him with some chores and next weekend we are all going to a Braves game in Atlanta.

Until next time...
